ATAG General Auditing Company Ltd. was founded in 1917. In 1991 the company split from the ATAG Ernst & Young group and became independent under the name ATAG Asset Management Ltd. Since 2000 ATAG Asset Management Ltd has been part of the Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank group (BLKB). BLKB holds the highest Standard & Poor's rating of AAA.
In spring 2007 AAM made an application for the authorization to operate as a bank which was approved in July 2007 by the Swiss Federal Banking Commission. On September 1, 2007, AAM became a private bank and was renamed AAM Privatbank Ltd.
