New clients for finance portals due to crisis

Scores of private investors switched their bank or portfolio manager in the last few weeks, a trend that looks likely to continue throughout all of next year.

Record numbers of private investors on the move

Wealth management clients tend to be more loyal in good times. When performance seems about right, many clients prefer to forego the emotional and administrative cost of a switch. But the global financial crisis has aroused their existential fears and has prompted many of them to make a move. Many wealthy individuals look for guidance on the Internet, with decision-making aids for investments, banks and relationship managers most in demand. In October, CASH.ch logged 65% more one-time visitors than in October 2007, while Handelszeitung.ch recorded a leap of 537%.

A change is definitely on the books, and nowhere more so than for private banking clients weathering the crisis. Switzerbank.com will benefit from the situation.

Number of profiles on the up

Our portal went online in November 2007 and now has double the number of profiles it had three months ago. Most banks and wealth management companies have had single ‘pilot relationship managers’ profiled to test the effectiveness of our portal in practice. A few weeks ago, 16 out of 17 of the very first video profiles renewed their subscriptions for another year.

Coming soon: Directory of banks and asset managers

After initially focusing on profiles of people (relationship managers), we will turn our attention to Swiss banks and financial intermediaries in the coming months and publish a list of them with their key data.

Our website in new clothes

To mark its first anniversary, our Internet portal has been given a makeover. While the core functions of www.switzerbank.com remain unchanged, the screens have been completely updated by our graphic designer Florian Westermann and our two Indian software engineers Bhoopathy Murugaswamy and Rajesh Varadarajan.

Elegant, professional and clear

The private banking sector places the highest demands on website design too. We aim to satisfy all wishes, technologically and stylistically.

Review: Private Banking Summit 2008

The annual Private Banking Summit is considered the leading event for the profession in Switzerland. The Euroforum conducted the three-day event already for the seventh time at Zurich’s Hotel Renaissance. Besides more than 20 top-flight speakers from the Swiss banking world, Switzerbank.com was also invited there to present its innovative Internet portal.

Private banking in the age of the Internet

The summit was again chaired by Prof. Teodoro D. Cocca of the Institute of Swiss Banking at the University of Zurich. His main area of study for many years has been the changes the Internet has brought to private banking.
